Local Birding

After work today I went out for a short walk down to the village of Collia and the farmland just the other side. Highlight was a small flock of Spotless Starling in the village, a lifer for me! Amusingly these birds have been present since i arrived in the area, but beleiving that Spotless did not occur this far North I had never bothered to check them out, it was only on hearing news that a Rosy Starling down the coast was associating with a flock of Spotless that I found out that Spotless are the commoner species in Asturias at this time of year, Doh!!

Very distant Spotless Starling

I managed to get fairly close to one of three male Red-backed Shrikes seen today

Serins were also in abundance, with at least 7 singing males
